Needle bar does not move

 

•  Power and light switch on

 •  Motor is connected to power supply

 •  Fuse in power plug

 

Needle bar moves but stitch is not formed

 

•  Needle is sharp and straight

 •  Correct needle for machine

 •  Needle size is correct for thread being used

 •  Needle is inserted correctly (flat side against needle bar)

 •  Machine is correctly threaded

 •  Bobbin contains thread

 •  Bobbin case is free of lint and loose threads

 

Needle breaks

 

•  Needle is straight and sharp, and correct type for machine, proper size    for thread, and inserted in the correct way           

 •  Needle is fully inserted into the needle clamp

 •  Stitch width setting too wide when using a twin-needle

 •  Presser foot not full tight

 •  Wrong needle plate attached

 •  Fabric is being pulled by operator
